Argentina - Odds to Win 2014 FIFA World Cup
Argentina are the HUGE betting favorite to make it out of their group in Brazil, but can they end their run of disappointing World Cups? Since they were the runner up in 1990 in Italy Argentina has not progressed past the quarterfinals. If they cannot improve upon that in Brazil this World Cup will be seen as a major disappointment.
Hard not to see Argentina going far in this summer and they have the second best betting odds to win it all. They finished first in tough South American qualifying, are playing on their home continent, and have THE best offense in the tournament led by THE best striker in the world in Lionel Messi.
Argentina Odds to win World Cup 2014: +450
Argentina Odds to win Group F: -2500
How They Advanced:
Argentina finished first in CONMEBOL qualifying with 32 points. They only lost one match in the qualifying process and that is the last one facing Uruguay when they already had the top spot in South America wrapped up. Offense is the strength of the team and the squad scored 10 goals in their last three qualifying matches. On the other side of the coin their defense conceded five goals in their last three matches.
Argentina has the biggest betting odds to win their group and with good reason. They are in one of the weaker groups with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran, and Nigeria. The odds makers are right, as Argentina will easily win their group and win every match. Playing on their home continent they will also win their next two matches likely beating Belgium in the quarterfinals. However, they will lose in the semifinals to 2010 World Cup winner Spain.
