Belgium - 2014 FIFA World Cup Betting Odds to Win
Belgium may be one of the dark horses of the World Cup, but they are no secret after easily qualifying and having a good all around squad with no real weakness.
They are seen as being in the midst of a golden generation being a top pod seed where they can really take advantage of the fact they are not in very tough group in Brazil.
The one weakness of the squad may be their youth, as they do not have a lot of experience in big tournaments.
Belgium made it to the semifinals in the 1986 World Cup and with the squad they have a finish like that or higher is not out of the question.
Belgium Odds to win World Cup 2014: +1400
Belgium Odds to win Group H: -150
How They Advanced:
Fairly easily. Belgium won European qualifying Group A with 26 points and they were unbeaten in the qualifying process. They played a tough Croatia, who is also in the World Cup, team in qualifying and after playing to draw at home they beat them in Zagreb to wrap up the group. The stout Belgium defense did not give up more than one goal in any of their 10 qualifying matches.
One prediction is easy, as Belgium will have no problems getting out of their group, which includes Russia, South Korea, and Algeria. However, how far can they go? The Russia match in group play is the key one, but Belgium will win and they will win all the matches in their group.
After group play the draw is not kind for Belgium. They will face the runner up for the Group of Death in the round of 16 match and then a likely match up with defending champion Spain in the quarterfinals if they happen to get that far. Belgium will advance past the round of 16, but no further.
