Do Any 2014 World Cup Betting Long Shots have a Shot?

Brazil and Argentina have the best betting odds to win the World Cup, but what about the long shots?

Here is a look at the teams with the worst odds out of every group and their odds to win the group.

The World Cup Odds listed are provided by 5Dimes Sportsbook

World Cup: Group A
Cameroon +2500

Cameroon has Samuel Eto’o, but not much else, as the team lacks world-class talent. Still, on the upside they have a decent midfield and while they have no chance against Brazil the other two squads in the group in Mexico and Croatia have issues and neither looked great in World Cup qualifying.

World Cup: Group B
Australia +3300

I would say the Aussies have zero chance of making it to the Round of 16. They were beaten 6-0 by Brazil and France in two World Cup tune-ups and they in a killer group.

World Cup: Group C
Greece +750

Out of all the teams that have the worst group odds Greece has the best. They are not in the toughest of groups and they have a solid defense. The squad also has some thing they have lacked for a long time in a legitimate scoring threat in Konstantinos Mitroglou.

World Cup: Group D
Costa Rica +5000

Costa Rica has a decent attack, but there are issues on defense and they play in a very tough group. With Uruguay, Italy, and England in the same group it is a major long shot that they will make it out of group play, as there is a reason they are at +5000 to win the group.

World Cup: Group E
Honduras +3300

Honduras really struggled on the road in qualifying and needed Mexico to slip up to grab a berth. While they are not in the toughest of groups they will likely make no noise this summer with the lack of world-class talent on the squad.

World Cup: Group F
Iran +3300

Respected coach Carlos Queiroz leads Iran in this World Cup after guiding Portugal to the Round of 16 in the 2010 tournament. They play a great team game and finished ahead of South Korea in World Cup qualifying, so they should not be taken for granted. However, with the likes of Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Nigeria in the group they have a major uphill battle.

World Cup: Group G
United States +1200

The Americans have a solid squad, but they were a little unlucky to be drawn into the Group of Death. Michael Bradley leads a solid midfield and they have some solid strikers, but the defense is a concern and that has been shown in their last two WC tune-up friendly matches.

World Cup: Group H
Algeria +3300

Madjid Bougherra is a very tough, and some say very dirty, defender, but the offense and midfield are concerns. The group is not a tough one, but advancing will be very tough.
