Germany - Odds to Win 2014 FIFA World Cup
Germany was drawn into the dreaded Group of Death, but have the best betting odds to win the group. They also have the best odds to win the World Cup from teams not in South America. Germany is a stacked squad with many world-class players and they won their European qualifying group without losing a match.
The Germans have a great midfield and a stout defense, but they do not feature a top-notch striker and the whole Group of Death thing is a concern. They are in Group G along with Portugal, the United States, and Ghana, who the Germans bested in the group stage in the 2010 World Cup.
Germany Odds to win World Cup 2014: +500
Germany Odds to win Group G: -600
How They Advanced:
Germany finished first in European qualifying Group C with 28 points and they went unbeaten with nine wins and one draw. That was a solid undertaking being in a pretty strong group along with Sweden and Austria. They had three clean sheets in a row before giving up three goals to Sweden in their last qualifying match.
The Germans did have four clean sheets in the qualifying process, but tow came against Faroe Islands and one came facing Kazakhstan, who are a couple of teams far from world soccer powers.
Germany will make it out of the Group of Death and while their offense, which scored more goals that any European team in qualifying, is solid their defense will be key. They will beat Portugal in group play with their defense in the big match and advance to the round 16 as the Group G winner.
The Germans will easily beat the runner up from Group H in the round of 16 and they should meet France in the quarterfinals and they will win that match as well. However, in the semifinals they should face Brazil and that is where their World Cup ride will end.
