Greece - Odds to Win 2014 FIFA World Cup

To say Greece has a great defense is an understatement, as in World Cup qualifying they only conceded a grand total of four goals. However, their offense is the key issue and has been since they shocked the world winning the 2004 European Championships. The is hope though, as Konstantinos Mitroglou is the best forward they have had in years and the young striker has a lot of pressure on him.
Greece is not in the toughest of groups, but their defense will be tested by the attacking styles of Colombia and Ivory Coast in group play.

How They Advanced:
Greece finished with the same record in their group with Bosnia and Herzegovina, but finished second because of goal differential. They finished qualifying with five straight clean sheets. Unexpectedly their offense was the key in the first leg at home in their tie facing Romania winning 3-1 and advancing on 4-2 aggregate after playing to a 1-1 draw in Bucharest.
Their toughest matches in qualifying were obviously with Bosnia-Herzegovina. However, those matches did not end up well playing to a 0-0 draw at home and then having a defensive lapse in their 3-1 loss in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Early Prediction:
Greece is not the easiest prediction, as it is hard to go against a team with such a great defense. While they have the lowest odds to get out of the group stage I think they will advance. Their defense will give Colombia and Ivory Coast fits and the Greeks will pounce on their mistakes.
The Japan match will be a fun one to watch since the Japanese are such a technical squad. This one may be a draw, but Greece will move on to the last 16. However, their ride will end their facing the winner of Group D, which is a toos-up between England, Italy, and Uruguay.
