Mexico - Odds to Win 2014 FIFA World Cup
Mexico has the third best odds to get out of Group A and while host Brazil is in the group they did beat them in the 2012 Olympic final. They had a tumultuous time qualifying for the World Cup firing a few coaches in the process, but they have an attacking and solid offense and the big question is can they advance past the last 16?
Mexico has played in the last five World Cups and has made it out of the group stage every time, but has lost the next match every time as well.
Mexico Odds to win World Cup 2014: +15000
Mexico Odds to win Group A: +800
How They Advanced:
Not easily to say the least. Mexico only won two of 10 qualifying matches and only made it to the Brazil after a win over a less than stellar New Zealand squad in an intercontinental playoff. They lost three of their last four qualifying matches and while their offense struggled in the whole process Mexico did score nine goals against New Zealand to book their ticket to Brazil.
In facing other CONCACAF teams that made to the World Cup in Honduras, United States, and Costa Rica Mexico did not win a single match. Their only wins before the tie against New Zealand were against Panama and Jamaica.
Many experts have predicted that the biggest match of the group is facing Brazil. Not so. They will lose to hosts and may do so badly and while they will beat Cameroon in the group they will lose against Croatia. Past results, like the Olympics, do not matter any more.
While Mexico’s attacking squad will score some goals they will not advance to the last 16 for the first time since 1990 when they were banned from the World Cup for fielding an overage player in a youth tournament.

Oribe Peralta FW Santos Laguna – While Hernandez gets the press Peralta may be the better striker and scored a hat trick in the away leg facing New Zealand in their intercontinental tie.
