Russia - Odds to Win 2014 FIFA World Cup

Under accomplished head coach Fabio Capello the Russian squad now has a great defense, which was their weakness in the past. They have a good midfield and while not a great offense they use great movement all over the pitch to create scoring chances.
The Russians’ defense was great in European qualifying and they will have to play well in that area in the field in their group, which consist of Algeria, South Korea, and Belgium. Russia has the second best betting odds to make it out of their group.

How They Advanced:
Impressively. Russia finished in the top of their European group, which included a solid Israel team and Portugal, who are playing in Brazil. In the qualifying process the squad only conceded five goals in 10 matches. The Russians only suffered two losses in qualifying and they beat Portugal in a tough home match. In their last four matches they were unbeaten.
Early Prediction:
Fabio Capello flamed out as the England manager in 2010, but with a bunch of players that are great at the team game his squad will have a good showing. Belgium is the top pot squad in the group and the dark horse of the World Cup. Russia will not beat them, but they will win the other two matches and advance to the round of 16. However, once there it is likely they will face Germany and while the Russian defense will play well they will not slay the German soccer giant.
